Our Story
Rose and Karen founded Language Flex with a shared passion for teaching and a vision to make language learning personalized and empowering.
Rose brings years of experience as both an English and Spanish teacher and U.S. certified translator, with a deep understanding of how language works and connects cultures.
Karen, a natural entrepreneur, combines her background in teaching both the U.S. school systems and international schools—with a drive to innovate and inspire. Together, they’ve built a global company where students and clients feel supported, motivated, and involved.

Rose DeRoos
I am an experienced ESL educator and paraprofessional with over 12 years of teaching experience in diverse international and online settings. I began my career working in ESL classrooms within Denver Public Schools before earning my TEFL certification in 2013. Since then, I have taught English to students in Guatemala, Peru, and online to learners in Taiwan, Japan, and Italy. In addition to teaching, I hold a Translation Certificate from the University of Massachusetts Boston, which I earned in 2018. My background reflects a strong commitment to language education and cross-cultural communication.

Karen Wilke Àlvarez
I have 25 years teaching experience that includes working with adults and kids learning English (A1 to C2)s. I’ve taught Reading and Writing (ELA) in the United States as well as worked as a TEFL Trainer and Teaching Coach for over 10 years. Most recently I’ve taught a variety of levels and content as a Freelance English Teacher including teacher coaching, International Exam Preparation, grammar and conversation-focused classes with kids, teens and adults. I believe that learning a language should be engaging, individualized, and the appropriate level of challenge. My background reflects a strong commitment to creative teaching, empowered learning, and collaborative coaching.
